The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 just concluded, and Microsoft used the occasion of the platform’s 25th anniversary to make a statement. The show brought new titles, new hardware, new accessories, and confirmed something fans have been asking for since the acquisition era: true Xbox console exclusives.
After years of criticism about lack of exclusives and the slow pace of studio acquisitions paying off, Xbox Games Showcase 2026 felt like a company that finally has the games to back up the narrative.
The Exclusives Are Back — For Real This Time
The biggest news from the Xbox Games Showcase 2026: Microsoft confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be Xbox console exclusives. The official Xbox Wire statement was direct:
“These are not timed exclusives.”

Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Revealed
To mark 25 years, Xbox Games Showcase 2026 revealed the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition: a translucent design drawing direct inspiration from the original Xbox, with an OG Green finish that long-time players will recognize immediately.
The accompanying Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition pays tribute to 25 years of controller evolution:
- ABXY colors referencing the classic Xbox palette
- Classic green finish
- Bumper design referencing the original black and white buttons from the Duke controller
Both the console and controller launch in November in select markets.
Game Pass: What’s Changing After Xbox Games Showcase 2026
Earlier this month, Microsoft lowered Game Pass subscription prices after a significant 2025 price hike caused millions of cancellations. New Xbox boss Asha Sharma called it “a good first step.” Acquisitions and retention have already improved following the change.
June additions to Game Pass include:

Call of Duty titles won’t return to Game Pass for at least another year as part of the restructuring.
